"Doyle" The National Bird Of Bangladesh


Doel (Oriental Magpie-Robin), a symbol of the sweet melody of nature, is a well-known and beloved bird in many Asian countries including Bangladesh. It is regarded as the national bird of Bangladesh and its scientific name is [Copsychus saularis]. This bird is not only beautiful, but also plays an important role in maintaining the balance of nature.

Features and Structure:

Doel look small and graceful. The body of the male Doel bird is a combination of black and white, which gives it a regal beauty. The head, throat, and back of the male bird are bright black, while the belly and underside of the wings are white. The body of the female Doel is a mixture of gray and white. Their length is usually 19-20 cm and weight 31-42 grams. Due to their long tails, they have a kind of gallantry and distinctiveness, which is clearly visible during movement.

Habitat and Diet

Doel birds are mainly found in various countries of South Asia and Southeast Asia. They prefer to live in villages, city gardens, and forest edges. Doel birds usually live alone or in pairs. They build their nests in tree trunks or near the ground. Their nests are made of materials such as pieces of leaves, dry grass, and cobwebs. Doel birds survive mainly by eating insects. Apart from insects, they also eat small fruits and seeds. During the day they hunt by sitting near the ground or on the branches of low trees. The Doel birds feeding habits make them helpful in controlling nature's pests.

Song of Doel:

Doel bird's are especially known for their melodious songs. This bird can sing in different tones, which are usually heard at dawn and dusk. Doel songs enhance the beauty of nature and soothe the human mind.
